CHE SIA UN'IMMAGINE E UN FATTO ALLO STESSO TEMPO.
Ho sviluppato la mia pratica artistica favorendo il passaggio a una situazione più libera, inclusiva e orizzontale. Ho voluto allargare lo spazio intorno alla performance, cercando di creare una sintesi formata non dall'esclusione del superfluo ma dall'unione dei dettagli. Se fosse politica, sarebbe un'utopica "democrazia per eccesso" in cui il sistema di norme è composto dalla somma delle eccezioni e non dalla convergenza a una regola comune. Mi sono data questo spazio per la necessità di rivendicare qualcosa che ai miei occhi appare cruciale.
Lavorare con lo spazio permette di portare lo sguardo verso l'esterno, innescando una situazione molto più elaborata: mi metto nella posizione di essere intero solo uscendo dal mio confine, diventando me stessa in qualsiasi numero a parte il numero uno. Vedermi come un'unica unità è forzato. Mi sento piuttosto più autentica nell'articolarmi nello spazio allargandomi fino a perdere l'idea di centro.
In questo senso dirigo il mio lavoro, decentrando la visione privata e collettiva della propria presenza e dei suoi cambiamenti, alimentando la singolarità attraverso la pluralità, dispiegando e moltiplicando la complessità della piccolezza.

I have developed my artistic practice favoring a transition to a more free, inclusive, and horizontal situation. I wanted to enlarge the space around the performance, trying to create a synthesis formed not by the exclusion of the superfluous but by the union of details. If it were politics, it would be a utopian “democracy by excess” in which the system of norms is composed of the sum of the exceptions and not by the convergence to a common rule. I have given myself this space out of a need to claim something that appears crucial to my eyes.
Working with space makes possible to bring the gaze outwards, triggering a much more elaborate situation: I put myself in the position of being entire only by stepping out of my boundary and becoming myself in any other number apart from the number one. Seeing myself as a single unit is forced. Rather, I feel more authentic to articulate myself in space by spreading out till loosing the idea of centre.
In this sense I direct my work, decentralizing the private and collective vision of one’s own presence and its changes, nourishing singularity through plurality, unfolding and multiplying the smallness’ complexity.
BIO
Lucia Bricco (Torino, 1988) è un’artista italiana con sede ad Atene (GR) dal 2018.
Ha studiato all’Accademia Albertina di Torino (IT), all’Academia Complutense de Madrid (ES) e all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma (IT). Ha conseguito il master nel 2015 con la tesi di laurea In mezzo, indagine sulla visione. Studio delle possibilità dell’abitare uno scambio.
Il suo lavoro principalmente, ma non necessariamente, sotto forma di performance e disegno, è incentrato sullo spazio, affrontato sia in modo privato che collettivo. Si interessa alla frammentazione, convivenza e mutevolezza degli elementi insiti all'esistenza umana.
Dal 2020 è co-fondatrice della piattaforma artistica BEDS, un corpo collettivo e mutevole di artisti, che promuove forme, combinazioni e diversi livelli di collaborazione e partecipazione internazionale.
Dal 2015 ha partecipato a diverse residenze, mostre e festival di performance in Italia, Spagna, Polonia, Ucraina, Germania, Grecia, Francia, Repubblica Ceca, Bielorussia, Finlandia e India, tra cui: 2023 A-i-R Artist In Residency program, MeetFactory, Praga (CZ) 2022 MagiC Carpets, Creative Europe Platform, residenza artistica internazionale presso il centro culturale Trempo, Nantes (FR) 2021 BLACK KIT, International Performance Art Archive DIE SCHWARZE LADE | BLACK KIT, Cologne (DE); co-organizza l'evento internazionale di Performance Art BEDS.athens, evento patrocinato della città di Atene;

Lucia Bricco (Turin, 1988) is an Italian artist based in Athens (GR) since 2018.
She studied at the Accademia Albertina in Turin (IT), in the Academia Complutense de Madrid (ES), and in the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome (IT). She got her master’s degree in 2015 with the degree thesis In Between, investigation on the vision. Study of the possibilities of living an exchange.
Her work, mainly but not necessarily, in the form of performance and drawing, is focused on space, approached in both private and collective way. She’s interested in the fragmentation, coexistence and changeability of elements embedded in human existence.
Since 2020, co-founder of the art platform BEDS, a collective and changing body of artists, which promotes forms, combinations and different levels of international collaboration and participation.
