BEDS.rome

BEDS EVENTS ARE UNITED BY AN ORGANISATIONAL MODEL BASED ON THE CONSTANT CENTRALITY OF THE WORK OF ART. THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE EVENT STEMS IN ALL ITS PARTS FROM THE IDEAS AND NEEDS OF THE SPECIFIC ARTISTS INVOLVED AND THEIR WORKS.

Every decision made during the event creation process, which is by nature collective and changeable, takes into consideration the specificity of the exception, rather than the convergence to a common rule.
It is therefore not the artist who enters the event, but it is the event that, thanks to a collective work of care between people, takes the form of the artists and their work.
Beds combines three levels of networking, collaboration and mobility: an international network of artists, a mobile art organisation, and a locally networking art event with focus on performance art in a broad sense.

The first edition, Beds.athens, was conceived by the artists Lucia Bricco and Iulia Ghiță and took place in Athens, Greece, in 2021. Consequential to the collaborative process created, the Finnish invited artist in Greece Antti-Juhani Manninen, proposed a second edition of the event, called BEDS.Turku, involving three new artists Melissa Jolma, Jade Kallio, and Antti Turkko. The event will take place in Finland in May 2023.
We plan further editions of Beds in Kaunas (LT) and Rome (IT).
